Vietnamese Translation Services Singapore
Accents, family-name-first order and ward stamps make Vietnamese papers easy to get wrong. Vietnamese translation services in Singapore turn them into plain English, with each name spelled the way your passport shows it.
Take the name Nguyễn Thị Mai. Nguyễn is the family name, and it comes first. Your Vietnamese translator follows the passport spelling exactly, even when the passport drops the accent marks.

Vietnamese Document Translation For Family And School Records
Every Vietnamese paper has a name that tells you what it is. Below, we break down six of them, the ones people bring most, with a quick meaning for each Vietnamese to English translation we do.
Giấy Khai Sinh (Birth Certificate)
Khai sinh means 'declare a birth'. This paper names the child, the parents and the People's Committee that recorded it. Our birth certificate translation keeps every one of those details.
Giấy Chứng Nhận Kết Hôn
Kết hôn means 'to marry', so this is the marriage certificate. It shows both spouses, the date and the office. A Singaporean sponsoring a Vietnamese spouse almost always needs it in English.
Marital Status Paper
Giấy xác nhận tình trạng hôn nhân means 'paper confirming marriage status'. It shows a person was single, or divorced, on a set date. Some offices ask for it before a wedding or a pass.
Divorce Decision (Ly Hôn)
Ly hôn means 'divorce'. In Vietnam, a court decision ends a marriage. We translate the court's name, case number and date, just as our divorce document translation does for papers from other countries.
Degree And Transcript
Bằng tốt nghiệp is a graduation diploma, and bảng điểm is a transcript. Grade words such as Khá (good) and Giỏi (very good) are translated, never turned into numbers.
Citizen Identity Card
Căn cước công dân means 'citizen identity'. This chip card shows your ID number, home town and address. Offices here may ask for it to confirm who you are.
Vietnamese Translation Details We Check On Every Page
A Vietnamese paper can look simple and still hide small traps. Here is a short lesson on six of them, with a tiny example each, so you know what we watch for when we translate Vietnamese papers.
| On your document | Why it is tricky | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| ngày 05 tháng 03 năm 1995 | Word by word it says 'day 5, month 3, year 1995'. A reader can mix up the day and month. | We write 5 March 1995, with the month as a word. |
| Nguyễn Văn An | The family name comes first, and Văn is a middle name. English forms expect the opposite order. | We keep the order in your passport and show which part is the surname. |
| Accent marks like ễ or ơ | Passports often drop them, so NGUYEN and Nguyễn look like two names. | We follow your passport spelling, so the officer can match the two. |
| Ủy ban nhân dân | It means People's Committee, the local office. Officers here may not know the term. | We write the full English name with the ward, district and province. |
| Trích lục or bản sao | Trích lục is an extract from the record, and bản sao is a copy. Both are official. | We translate the label exactly, so the officer knows which kind it is. |
| Giấy ra viện (hospital discharge paper) | Medical words need extra care, and the dates of stay matter. | We handle it like our medical document translation, line by line. |
Not sure what a word on your paper means? Ask us, and we will explain it in plain English.
Certified Vietnamese Translator In Singapore For Northern And Southern Papers
A good teacher knows the subject well, and so does a good translator. When you need a certified translator for Vietnamese to English, a native speaker who knows northern and southern word choices does the work.
Here is a tiny example. In the north, a father may be written as bố, while in the south he is often ba. Both mean father. Our translators know these local words, so a family list on a household paper reads correctly in English.
We also translate English into Vietnamese, for papers going back to Vietnam. Some families hold papers from two countries, such as Vietnam and Thailand. We can add certified Thai translation to one order, so the names match everywhere.
Our Vietnamese Coverage
- Vietnamese to English for Singapore offices
- English to Vietnamese for offices in Vietnam
- Full accent marks kept in names
- Northern and southern word choices
- Old typed and new printed formats
Vietnamese Birth Certificate Translated To English In Four Steps
Let us use the most common case as our example: a birth record for an ICA form. Every other Vietnamese document translation follows the same four steps, so this short lesson works for those papers too.
- 1
Photograph The Whole Vietnamese Paper
Take a clear photo of the front and back, in good light. Include the red stamp and any small notes in the corners, because each one is translated.
- 2
Get A Fixed Vietnamese Translation Quote
We come back with the exact price and the finish date. Most Vietnamese papers are ready in 1–2 working days, and same-day express is possible for many single pages.
- 3
Check Vietnamese Names And Receive The PDF
You receive a draft to check. Look at the child's name, the parents' names and the date, then you get the final PDF. Spouses can read our translation for LTVP applications in Singapore for the full family list.

Notarise Your Vietnamese Birth Certificate Translation If Needed
For an ICA form, a private translation must be notarised, so this birth record needs it. A school may take a plain certified copy. We arrange the notary and the SAL authentication, needed on all notarised papers since 2019, from S$162.20 per document.
Vietnamese Translation Prices And Ways To Save In Singapore
Pricing begins at S$25 per page, and you see a fixed quote first. Knowing what moves the price helps you plan a certified Vietnamese translation in Singapore without cutting corners. Here is that short lesson.
What decides your final price
Pages, Not Words
We count pages. A one-page birth certificate is the lowest price, while a long transcript with many subjects costs more.
One Order For The Family
Send every family paper together. One quote and one notary visit often cost less than several small orders.
Notarisation
Notarisation starts from S$162.20 per document, SAL authentication included. For ICA, a notarised translation is one of the accepted routes, so most people add it.
Standard Or Express
Standard delivery is 1–2 working days. Express adds 50%, so choose it only when your deadline is truly close.
Papers Going To Vietnam
Vietnam has not joined the Apostille Convention, so papers for Vietnam usually need embassy legalisation after the SAL step. We quote each step first.
Copies And Courier
A notary true copy of your original, with SAL authentication, is priced from S$172.20 per document. Courier starts from S$15, and the PDF always reaches you by email.

Frequently Asked Questions
01Do I need a certified translator to translate Vietnamese to English in Singapore?
Singapore keeps no official list of certified translators. What ICA checks is the route: a translation by the embassy of the issuing country, or a private translation notarised by a notary public. We prepare the second kind and arrange the notary step for you.
02My passport says NGUYEN THI MAI, but my certificate says Nguyễn Thị Mai. Is that a problem?
No, it is the same name without accent marks. We write it as your passport shows, so the officer can match them. If the letters themselves differ, tell us before we start.
03My birth certificate is a newer re-issued copy. Can it still be used?
A re-issued copy, called trích lục or bản sao, comes from the same official record. We translate exactly what it says, including the issue date. Whether a newer copy is fine depends on the office's own list, so check it.
04Do you offer a Vietnamese interpreter in Singapore?
No, we only work on written papers. We can still translate letters or forms you receive before or after a meeting with an interpreter.
05Do I need to send the original Vietnamese paper?
No. A clear photo or scan of every page is enough for us. Keep the original nearby, because an officer may still ask to see it.
06Can you translate English into Vietnamese for use in Vietnam?
Yes. Some people need a Singapore paper in Vietnamese for an office back home. Ask that office what it wants, as Vietnam often asks for embassy legalisation on top of the SAL step.
07How fast can my Vietnamese paper be ready?
Most papers are ready in 1–2 working days. Many single-page certificates can be done the same day with express, which adds 50%. Tell us your deadline in your first message.
08My sổ hộ khẩu (household book) is old. Can you translate it?
Yes, if the pages are clear. Vietnam has moved away from the paper household book, so check whether the office here still wants it. It may ask for a newer residence paper instead.
09Is a translation notarised in Vietnam accepted by ICA?
A notary public in the issuing country is one of the routes ICA accepts. So a translation certified at a Vietnamese notary office (phòng công chứng) fits that rule. Check that the names in it match your passport exactly, because a mismatch is a common reason for queries.
10Do Vietnamese documents need consular legalisation for use in Singapore?
For most ICA and school applications, the usual rule is the original paper plus a translation done through an accepted route. Legalisation is only needed if your checklist or the officer asks for it. If that happens, the steps go through the issuing authority in Vietnam, so start early.
11Do I need a translated Vietnamese degree for a MOM work pass?
MOM asks for English translations of certificates that are not in English. We translate the degree and transcript with the university name, major and grading scale kept exactly. Notarisation is only added if the employer or MOM asks for it.
