Tamil Translation Services Singapore

Initials before names, long village addresses and handwritten register lines are normal on Tamil papers. Tamil translation services in Singapore handle all of them, so your certificate reads clearly in English for any office.

Tamil names often use initials, and spellings vary from paper to paper. Our Tamil translator matches every name to your passport and shows you a draft before it is stamped.

  • Faded and handwritten papers welcome
  • Initials matched to your passport
  • English to Tamil also available

Tamil Birth Certificates And Other Papers We Translate

Most Tamil papers we see come from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Sri Lanka. Below are the kinds people bring most. Birth certificate translation from Tamil to English is the most common request, but we cover many more.

Birth Certificates

Tamil Nadu certificates often print Tamil and English side by side, while older ones are fully handwritten. Our birth certificate translation for ICA covers every stamp and margin note.

Marriage Records

Some come from a registrar, others from a temple or a local body. Each type is translated in full, with the office seal and the registration number kept.

Death Certificates

Often needed for estate matters, insurance claims or updates to family records. We keep every date, place and registration detail exactly as printed on the original.

School Mark Sheets

Mark certificates, transfer certificates and school leaving papers. Subjects and marks are copied in the same order, ready for a study place or a work pass.

Land And Property Papers

Records like a patta from Tamil Nadu, used when a family deals with property back home. Survey numbers and village names are kept exactly as written.

Tamil Audio And Video

Recorded phone calls, interviews or court hearings spoken in Tamil. Our court transcription team writes down every word first, then turns it into plain English.

Certified Tamil Translation In Singapore: Traps To Avoid

Seals and notes on Tamil papers often stay in Tamil, so Tamil certificate translation usually needs certification. These papers also hide small traps that slow a file down. Here is what to watch for, and our fix.

On your documentWhy it is trickyWhat we do
Initials before a nameR. Kumar may stand for a father's name or a village nameWe follow your passport and add a short note if needed
Tamil and English mixedSeals, notes and office names often stay in Tamil onlyWe translate every Tamil part, not just the gaps
Sri Lankan papers with SinhalaSome records carry three languages on one pageWe translate the Tamil parts and confirm the rest before you pay
Faded or handwritten inkOlder certificates can be hard to readWe mark unreadable words as unclear and never guess
Mark sheets and gradesMark systems differ from Singapore onesAs with our degree and transcript translation, grades stay as printed, with no conversion
Tamil month namesSome old papers use the Tamil calendarWe give the English date and keep the original in brackets

Native Tamil Translators For India And Sri Lanka Papers

Each Tamil document translation is handled by a translator who reads Tamil as a first language. They know the script, the way names use initials, and the office terms used in India and Sri Lanka.

Need the other direction? We also translate English into Tamil, for family papers used in India or Sri Lanka. Tell us which office will read it. Some offices abroad want an apostille, which the SAL step on a notarised paper can include, so we check that with you first.

Tamil papers often sit inside a bigger family file. Our Birth certificate translation for a PR application work brings the whole set into one matching style. Have a wedding record too? Add an official translation of a marriage certificate to the same order.

Four Clear Steps For Your Tamil Translation

Within 1–2 working days, most Tamil jobs are ready, and with express, lots of one-page papers are done on the same day. Like all our document translation in Singapore, the path has four clear steps.

  1. 1

Send Photos Of Every Tamil Page

Take daylight photos of every page, front and back, with stamps fully in frame. Send them on WhatsApp and tell us which office they are for.

  2. 2

Accept The Tamil Quote To Start

After you accept the fixed quote, a translator who grew up reading Tamil works through every line, seal and handwritten note.

  3. 3

Review Tamil Names And Receive The File

Check names, initials, dates and places in the draft. Tamil names have many spellings, so this is where you tell us about any change. You then get the final PDF, or a hard copy at Suntec or by courier.

  4. 4

Notarise Your Tamil Translation If Needed

ICA asks for a private translation to be notarised for PR, citizenship or a pass. MOM and most schools take a plain certified copy. We arrange the notary and the SAL authentication of the notary's seal, needed on every notarised paper since 2019, from S$162.20 per document.

Tamil Document Translation Price In Singapore

Certified Tamil translation starts from S$25 per page, so a one-page birth certificate sits at the low end of the scale. Six things change the price, and you always get one fixed quote before paying.

What decides your final price

01

Number Of Pages

Price is per page. A thick bundle of mark sheets or a long land record costs more than one certificate.

02

Notary And SAL Fee

A notarised version is what most ICA files ask for. The fee is set per document and starts from S$162.20, with SAL authentication included.

03

Express Turnaround

Same-day express adds 50%. It suits many single-page papers, but large bundles usually need normal timing.

04

Papers Going To India Or Sri Lanka

The SAL step already in a notarised price can add an apostille certificate for overseas use. Ask the receiving office what it accepts.

05

Certified True Copy

If an office wants a stamped copy of your Tamil original, the notary and SAL fees start from S$172.20 per document.

06

Delivery Choice

You receive the PDF on email or WhatsApp. For a paper copy, pick it up at Suntec or pay from S$15 for courier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have a question?

Send it with a photo of your document. A real person replies.

Ask on WhatsApp
01Which Tamil translation does ICA accept?

ICA accepts a translation by the embassy or high commission of the issuing country, or by a notary public. It also accepts a private translation once a notary public has notarised it, which is the route we arrange. ICA does not list or endorse any translation company.

02How do I change my birth certificate from Tamil to English?

You do not change the original. You get an English translation that sits with it. Send us a photo, check the draft, and we arrange the notary so it can be used with your Tamil original.

03My certificate shows only my father's initial. What will you write?

We translate the initial as printed. Your own name follows your passport. If you give us the full name, we can add a short note linking the two.

04Do I need to send the original Tamil certificate?

No, a clear photo taken in daylight is enough. You only need the original if you want a certified true copy, since the notary must see it.

05Can a bundle of Tamil mark sheets be done the same day?

Same-day express suits many single-page papers. A thick bundle usually needs the normal 1–2 working days. Tell us your date and page count, and we will be honest about timing.

06Do I need SAL if my Tamil translation is for India?

Every notarised translation already gets SAL authentication, a Singapore rule since 2019. For India, that same step can add an apostille, which Indian offices widely accept. Ask the office in India first before you order.

07I also have a Hindi document. Can you help with that?

Send a photo on WhatsApp first. Many Indian papers mix Hindi and English, so we look at the full page. We will tell you honestly if we can take it on before you pay.

08What if an officer asks for a change to my translation?

Tell us exactly what the officer said. If the change relates to our translation, we correct it at no cost. If the office wants something new, like extra pages translated, we quote for that first.

09My certificate is printed in both Tamil and English. Do I still need a translation?

Sometimes not. If every field, stamp and handwritten entry already has English, the office may accept it as it is. But many Indian and Sri Lankan records have Tamil-only seals, remarks or later entries, and those parts do need translating. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

10Can I use a Tamil translation that was done in India?

ICA's list includes a notary public in the country that issued the paper. So a translation notarised by a notary in India can fit that rule. A plain agency translation with only a company stamp does not, and it would need notarising first.

11What does a notarised Tamil translation include?

You receive the English translation, a declaration signed by the translator, and the notary public's seal and signature on top. The notary confirms the declaration, while the translator stands behind the wording. With the SAL authentication every notarised paper needs, this starts from S$162.20 per document.
