Long-Term Pass Translation In Singapore And The Checks Officers Make
Two terms matter here. LTVP means Long-Term Visit Pass. It lets some family members of Singapore citizens and PRs stay here for a longer time. The person in Singapore who applies is called the sponsor.
ICA needs to read every paper in English. The ICA website lists three accepted routes: a translation by the embassy of the country that issued the paper, a translation by a notary public, or a private translation that a notary public notarises. To notarise simply means to check and stamp.
Take an example case: Lan is from Vietnam and marries a Singaporean. Her husband uploads the Vietnamese marriage paper plus our marriage certificate translation for ICA, stamped by a notary. That pair, the original and the English, is what ICA wants to see.
Papers Often Translated
- Marriage certificate of the couple
- Birth certificates of the children
- Household book or family register
- Divorce or death certificate from before
- Payslips or job letters, if asked
Long-Term Visit Pass Documents That Need Translation
A spouse or parent pass file shows the family link and that the sponsor can support you. These are the LTVP papers we translate most often. Your ICA checklist decides which ones you actually need.
-
Marriage Certificate
The main proof for a spouse LTVP. Our marriage certificate translation services keep names and dates exactly as on both passports.
-

Needed for a child's pass, or to prove you are the parent of a citizen. Get your birth cert translation in Singapore checked against the passport.
-
Malaysian Birth Certificate
Malaysian spouses and children often send a JPN certificate in Malay. We provide Malaysian birth certificate translation services for every format.
-
Divorce Papers
If either of you married before, ICA asks how it ended. Our divorce decree and court order translation covers every page.
-
Household Register
A hukou or koseki shows who lives in the family. We provide household certificate translation for China, Taiwan and Japan.
-
Income Proof
The sponsor's payslips or tax papers may be in another language. Our bank statement translation in Singapore covers statements, payslips and tax notices.

Some spouse passes ask for your highest qualification. We offer degree certificate translation in Singapore with grades and seals kept.
Your own ICA checklist always comes first. Not sure? Send it to us on WhatsApp.

Papers in any of our other 100+ languages go to native translators too; simply WhatsApp a photo and we will confirm the language and price.
Long-Term Visit Pass Document Checklist In Six Rules
Think of these as six small rules that keep your file tidy. Each one takes only a few minutes. Together they help an officer read your visit pass papers easily and stop most requests for changes later.
Check my documentsPhotograph Every Side
A paper has a front and a back, and stamps on the back count too. Lay it flat and take the photo in daylight.
Follow The Passport
Names must match the passport letter by letter. If a paper uses another spelling, we add a short note to explain it.
Translate The Whole Paper
Leaving out a stamp or a side note is like skipping a line in a story. ICA may ask for the missing part.
Mind The Income Papers
Some files include proof of the sponsor's income. If a pay slip is not in English, our payslip translation keeps every figure exactly as printed.
Keep The Original Safe
We translate from a clear photo or scan. You keep the real paper at home in case ICA asks to see it.
Send Everything Together
One order means one translator keeps all the names the same. It also means one fixed quote for the whole family.
LTVP Translation Timeline In Singapore, Step By Step
From start to finish, a normal order for LTVP sponsor documents looks like this. Most papers take 1 to 2 working days. A single-page paper can often go express the same day. Each step is explained below in plain words.
Need it faster? Ask for same-day express on WhatsApp.
- Day 1, morning
Send Photos Of Your LTVP Papers
Take clear photos of each paper and of the passport page with the name. Send them on WhatsApp or through the form on this site.
- Day 1, same day
Agree On A Price For LTVP Papers
We count the pages and documents, then reply with a fixed price and a delivery day. Work starts only after you say yes.

Check The LTVP Translation Draft
A native translator writes the English. You read the draft the way a teacher marks homework, looking closely at names, dates and places.

- Before upload
Notarise Your LTVP Translations For ICA
ICA asks for a private translation to be notarised in an LTVP file, so most sponsors need this. We organise the notary and the SAL authentication every notarised paper has needed since 2019, from S$162.20 per document. A printed copy can be collected at Suntec or sent by courier.
LTVP Application Translation Price And Cost Factors
Translating LTVP family papers starts from S$25 per page. Notarisation is added for each document. We always send a fixed quote first, so you know the full cost before you pay anything at all.
What decides your final price
Number Of Pages
Price is counted per page. A marriage certificate is often one page, while a family book can have many pages.
Number Of Documents
Each paper gets its own notarisation, from S$162.20 per document with SAL authentication included. Three papers mean three separate notarial certificates.
Your Language
Common languages are usually at the starting price. Rare languages or hard-to-read scripts can cost a little more.
Clarity Of The Paper
Faded ink or handwriting takes more time to read carefully. A sharp, bright photo helps keep the cost down.
Your Deadline
Express service adds 50% to the price. It works best for single-page papers that you need on the same day.
Printed Copies
The notarised PDF is included. If you also want paper copies delivered to your door, courier starts from S$15.

Frequently Asked Questions
01What is the difference between LTVP and LTVP+? Does the translation change?
LTVP+ is a version of the pass for some foreign spouses of Singapore citizens, and it can last longer. The translation rules are the same for both. ICA's website explains who qualifies for each one.
02Who should send the papers to you, the sponsor or the applicant?
Either one can. Most couples let the sponsor send everything, because the sponsor fills in the ICA form. What matters most is clear photos and the correct passport spellings.
03Will ICA grant the pass if you translate my papers?
No. ICA decides every pass after its own review, and no translator can promise an outcome. We make sure your papers are clear, complete and notarised, so officers can read them.
04Our marriage was registered in Vietnam last week. Can you translate the new certificate?
Yes. A brand-new certificate is fine as long as the photo is clear. We translate exactly what is printed, including the issue date and the name of the registering office.
05My child's papers come from two different countries. Can you handle both languages?
Yes. Send them in one order. We match each paper with a translator who reads that language natively, and we keep the names the same across all of them.
06Is SAL authentication part of an LTVP translation?
Yes. A Singapore notary's certificate is only complete once the Singapore Academy of Law authenticates it, a rule since 2019. We handle that step for each paper, and its fee sits inside our notarisation price.
07Some words on my parents' old certificate cannot be read. What happens then?
We never guess. If a word is unreadable, we mark it as illegible in the English. If key details are missing, you may want to ask the issuing office for a fresh copy.
08ICA asked us to correct one translation. Will we pay again?
Not if the change is to our English wording. Send us ICA's message and we fix it free, then send a new notarised PDF. A new paper that ICA asks for is quoted separately.
09How long does an LTVP application take after submission?
ICA sets the timing, and it can range from a few weeks to longer if officers ask for more papers. You can follow the status through ICA's e-Service. Translating a family paper usually takes 1–2 working days, so start that early.
10Will ICA accept LTVP papers translated by a private company?
Yes, when the route is right. ICA accepts a private translation once a notary public has notarised it or the issuing country's embassy has attested it. It also accepts translations by that embassy or by a notary public. ICA does not endorse any one company.
11Do I need new translations when I renew an LTVP?
Usually not, if the original papers have not changed. Renewals tend to ask for fewer documents. If ICA requests a new paper that is not in English, such as a fresh income letter, that paper needs its own translation.
