English To Chinese Translation In Singapore: Your Pack Explained
Offices in China read Chinese. Many Singapore papers are in English only. Our English to Chinese translation services close that gap. Your paper keeps its layout. Every word, date and number appears in Chinese.
Common papers: degrees, bank letters, company profiles, marriage papers and passports. A certified passport translation often goes in the same pack. Coming the other way? We also do foreign driving licence translation for Chinese licences used here.
One rule first. Each office in China sets its own rules. Some accept a translation made in Singapore with notary and apostille stamps. Some want a translation company inside China. Ask the receiving office what it accepts. Then order.
In Your Pack
- Chinese translation in Simplified characters
- Our signed statement that it is accurate
- Notary stamp, if you order it
- SAL apostille with the notary step
- PDF copy, plus courier if needed

Notarise Your English To Chinese Translation For China
Most offices in China, such as a court, a bank or a visa office, want the translation notarised. Since 2019 every notarised paper here also needs SAL authentication, which now serves as the apostille for China. We arrange both from S$162.20 per document, then you collect the papers or we send them by courier.
Plain, Notarised Or Apostilled Chinese Translations Compared
Pick the level the office wants, not more. Our English to Chinese translation services in Singapore cover three levels for mainland China. Going to Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan instead? Ask for Traditional Chinese translation.
| Level | What you get | Usually for |
|---|---|---|
| Translation only | Certified Chinese translation with our company stamp | Business partners and informal use |
| Notarised and apostilled translation | Notary stamp, then SAL, which adds the apostille | Many official uses in mainland China |
| Apostilled original, then translated | SAL apostille on a Singapore public document, then our Chinese translation | Offices that want the original apostilled first |
| Translation made in China | Done by a translation company inside China, not by us | Offices that accept only local translators |
| Traditional script version | Same levels, in Traditional characters | Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan |
Confirm the level with the office in China before you choose, because rules differ by city.
English To Chinese Translation Price Per Page In Singapore
To translate English to Chinese in Singapore, prices start from S$30 per page. That is a starting price, and you get a fixed quote before you pay. These six things decide your final number for China.
What decides your final price
Pages And Text
Price is per page. A dense bank statement takes longer than a short letter with only a few lines.
Legal Or Financial Terms
Contracts and financial papers need careful wording. Long legal documents may cost more per page than a simple certificate.
Notary Stamp
Notarisation including SAL authentication starts from S$162.20 per document. Skip it if the office in China does not ask for it.
SAL Apostille
For a notarised translation, the SAL step is already in the notary price and acts as the apostille. A Singapore birth or marriage certificate can be apostilled directly, SAL fee from S$10.70.
Express Speed
Same-day work is possible for many single-page papers. Express adds 50% to the price of the translation.
Courier
Courier delivery in Singapore starts from S$15. Sending hard copies to China is quoted separately, based on the address.

Frequently Asked Questions
01Will an office in China accept a translation made in Singapore?
It depends on the office. Many accept a notarised and apostilled translation. Some want a translation company inside China to do it. Get the answer from the receiving office before you pay for anything.
02What Chinese name will you use for me?
If you already have a Chinese name, we use it exactly. If not, we suggest characters that sound like your name. Your English name stays as it is in your passport, and you approve everything.
03Simplified or Traditional characters: which do I need?
Mainland China uses Simplified. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan use Traditional. Tell us the city, and we pick the right script.
04Do I always need an apostille for China?
No. Visas, marriage registration and company set-up often need it. A letter for a business partner often does not. The receiving office decides, so ask them for a written list.
05Can you translate legal and financial documents into Chinese?
Yes. Contracts, bank statements and company papers are common jobs. Numbers, dates and amounts stay exactly as in the English. Legal terms are translated by meaning, not word for word.
06How fast can I get it?
Most translations take 1–2 working days. Many single-page papers can be done the same day with express, which adds 50%. The notary and SAL steps add more time, shown in your quote.
07Do I need to send the original paper?
No. A clear scan or photo is enough for the translation. If you order the notary step, the notary may need to see the original. We tell you before booking.
08What if I find a mistake after delivery?
Tell us right away, and we will check it against your original. Read the draft carefully before the notary step, because a fix after the notary or SAL stamp means repeating those steps.
09Should my documents be translated before or after the apostille for China?
It depends on the office, so ask them first. A common route is to notarise and apostille the English paper in Singapore, then translate the whole set, including the apostille certificate, into Chinese. Some offices instead want the Chinese translation itself notarised and apostilled.
10Can I translate my own documents into Chinese for use in China?
Most offices in China will not accept a translation made by the applicant. They usually want one from a translation company with its seal, or a notarised translation. A self-made version risks rejection and delay.
11Does a Chinese visa application need my documents in Chinese?
Many visa applications accept supporting papers in English, but rules change, so check the current list from the visa centre. Chinese translations are more often needed after arrival, for work permits, residence permits, marriage registration or school enrolment.
