Borang K In English With Every Stamp And Jawi Note Kept
Borang K, or Form K, is the Malaysian form for giving up Malaysian citizenship. If you are becoming a Singapore citizen, it is a normal step. Much of it is in Malay, so an English version helps.
ICA may ask you to show proof that you gave up your old citizenship. Malay-only parts need English. ICA accepts a translation from the embassy, a notary public, or a private translation notarised by a notary. It is often part of a wider citizenship document translation set.
Please do not worry if the wording looks strange. Most people see this form only once in their life. Send us a photo, and we will tell you kindly and honestly which parts need translating.

Borang K In Singapore Citizenship, Family Pass And Bank Files
Renouncing Malaysian citizenship is a big step, and the paper that proves it travels further than most people expect. Below are the offices that ask to read your Form K in English, and the reason each one does.
-
Proof Of Renunciation
After citizenship is approved, ICA asks new citizens to show they have given up Malaysian citizenship. The registered Borang K is that proof, translated into English.
-
Children's Citizenship Files
Parents who renounced may also handle their children's applications. ICA may ask to see the parent's translated Form K alongside the child's own papers.
-
Spouse's LTVP Or PR
When a new citizen sponsors a spouse's LTVP or PR, ICA reviews the sponsor's nationality history. The translated Borang K may form part of that file.
-
Banks And Insurers
Banks and insurers may update your nationality once you become a citizen. A translated Borang K explains why your Malaysian identity card is no longer valid.
-
Employer HR Records
Employers moving staff from a work pass to local hire may ask for proof of the nationality change. An English Form K answers that question clearly.
-
Malaysian Property Or Estate
Lawyers handling land, estate or inheritance matters for a former Malaysian citizen may need the Borang K record. Singapore lawyers reviewing it often want English.
-
Overseas Visa Applications
Embassies of other countries sometimes ask former dual nationals for proof of renunciation. A translated Borang K settles that question on a single page.
-
Citizenship Ceremony Paperwork
ICA may ask new citizens for proof that Malaysian citizenship was given up, so an English Borang K helps complete the file on time.
Form K Documents We Translate For New Citizens
Besides the Borang K form, renouncing Malaysian citizenship may leave you with more than one paper. Some are letters and some are slips with stamps. Here are six kinds people bring us, so you can spot yours.
The Signed Borang K Form
This is the declaration you fill in and sign. It has your name, IC number, date of birth and address. We translate every printed line and any words you wrote by hand.
The Registered Copy From JPN
After Malaysia's National Registration Department (JPN) registers it, the form may come back with new stamps and dates. This is the proof ICA may ask to see.
JPN Letters And Receipts
Small papers matter too. A cover letter, a receipt or an acknowledgement slip can be added to the same order, so the notary step happens only once.
Papers Done Through The High Commission
Many people in Singapore hand in Form K through the Malaysian High Commission. Any Malay slips or notes from that office can be translated in the same way.
Your Malaysian Birth Certificate
Born in Malaysia? ICA may want this too. A Malaysia birth cert translation uses many of the same Malay words, so we keep both papers matching.
Singapore Papers Going To Malaysia
Sometimes it is the other way round. A Malaysian office may want your Singapore papers in Malay. Our English to Malay translation uses the formal Malay those offices expect.
Borang K In English: Key Malay Terms Explained
Some words on your renunciation form look heavy, but they are simple once explained. As a team giving official document translation for ICA, we translate Borang K wording often. Here is what each means and how it reads.

| Akuan Melepaskan Kewarganegaraan | A promise that you give up citizenship | Declaration of Renunciation of Citizenship |
| Perkara 23 Perlembagaan Persekutuan | The law that lets you give up citizenship | Article 23 of the Federal Constitution |

Frequently Asked Questions
01Do you hand in my Borang K to JPN for me?
No. We only translate your papers and arrange the notary. You hand in Borang K yourself, through JPN or the Malaysian High Commission. If any line on the form confuses you, just ask us what it means.
02Is a notarised Borang K translation enough for ICA?
A notarised translation for ICA is one of the routes ICA accepts, along with a translation by the embassy or by a notary public. ICA does not endorse any translation company, so always follow your own ICA letter or checklist.
03My name has "binti" on the form but not on my passport. What will you write?
We copy the name exactly as printed on your Borang K papers. If it differs from your passport, tell us early. ICA may ask about the difference, so you may need extra proof such as a deed poll.
04I lost my registered Borang K. Can you still help?
We can translate a clear copy or photo if you still have one. We cannot replace a lost form, though. Please ask JPN or the Malaysian High Commission how to get a new copy.
05Do I need SAL for my Form K translation?
Only as part of the notary step. Since 2019, SAL must authenticate every paper a Singapore notary signs, and our notary price includes it. Your Singapore citizenship file does not need a separate apostille.
06Can I send a photo, or must I give you the original?
A clear photo or scan is enough for the translation, so your original stays safe with you. The notary only needs to see the original if you also want a certified true copy.
07How long will my Borang K translation take?
Most orders are ready in 1–2 working days. If your deadline is very close, express can often finish single pages the same day for 50% more. Just tell us your date and we will be honest about what fits.
08Is my personal information safe with you?
Yes. Your papers are handled under Singapore's PDPA. Only the team working on your order sees them, and we never use them for anything else.
09What is Borang K?
Borang K is the Malaysian form used to renounce Malaysian citizenship. Once JPN registers it, the stamped copy becomes your proof of renunciation. It is written in Malay, so Singapore offices usually want it in English.
10Where do I renounce my Malaysian citizenship in Singapore?
ICA advises approaching the embassy of your former nationality about renunciation. For Malaysians, that means the Malaysian High Commission or JPN, depending on their current process. Check their latest instructions before you go.
11How much does Borang K translation cost in Singapore?
Translation starts from S$30 per page, and most Borang K sets are only a few pages. Notarisation with SAL authentication, if ICA needs it, starts from S$162.20 per document. Express service costs half the translation fee again.
